Hidden Water Damage Issues

Navigating Visible and Hidden Water Damage Issues in Greenwood, IN

We are excited to share one of our recent projects tackling water damage restoration in Greenwood, IN. Our Indy’s Restoration Team had the opportunity to assist the client with water and mold issues in different areas of their home.

Our client, a homeowner in Greenwood, IN, reached out to us when they suspected water damage in their kitchen and dining room. They were understandably concerned about the potential extent of the damage and wanted a reliable solution.

Tackling Flooring Hidden Water Damage Issues in Multiple Rooms

Here’s an outline of the steps we took in this water damage mitigation process:

  1. Initial Assessment

Upon arrival at the client’s residence, our team assessed the areas the client mentioned, and we quickly realized that the extent was bigger than expected. Not only did it include the kitchen and dining room, but the laundry room, hallway, and closet, too. We carefully inspected the extent of visible and hidden issues and identified some signs of mold growth in the kitchen.

  1.  Preparation

Before beginning any restoration work, we ensured the safety of both our team and the homeowner by wearing protective gear. Our team is IICRC certified, so we are always prepared with the necessary equipment for the project, including dehumidifiers, air scrubbers, antimicrobial sprays, and hydro technology.

  1.  Removal of Damaged Materials

On the first day of the project, our primary focus was removing all damaged materials, including flooring, baseboards, and shoe molds, from the main floor. We worked systematically to detach and dispose of these materials to prevent the further spread of water damage and mold.

  1. Application of Antimicrobial Spray

With the damaged materials removed, we applied antimicrobial spray to the exposed surfaces to inhibit mold and bacteria growth. This step was crucial in ensuring that the affected areas were thoroughly sanitized before moving on with the restoration process.

  1. Setup of Air Scrubbers and Dehumidifiers

To speed up the drying process and improve air quality within the home, we strategically placed air scrubbers and dehumidifiers in the affected areas. These devices helped to remove excess moisture from the air and materials, creating a better environment for restoration work.

  1.  Removal of Flooring in Specific Areas

On the second day of the project, we focused on tackling water damage and mold growth in the laundry room and kitchen areas. Using specialized tools, we carefully removed small sections of laminate/linoleum flooring to access and treat the underlying damage.

  1. Use of Hydro Technology

With the flooring removed, we applied hydro technology to thoroughly clean and dry the affected areas. This advanced cleaning method ensured that any remaining moisture and contaminants were removed, preventing further mold growth.

Client Satisfaction

Throughout the project, we maintained open communication with the homeowner, keeping them informed of our progress and tackling any concerns they had. Upon completion of the restoration work, we ensured that the client was satisfied with the results and provided them with some necessary post-restoration tips and recommendations.
